How to Install an EA on MT4 / MT5

Open the MetaTrader Data Folder

Launch your MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 terminal on your computer or VPS. In the top navigation bar, click File → Open Data Folder.

Paste the EA File & Preset (.set) Files

Copy your downloaded Expert Advisor file (.ex4 for MT4 or .ex5 for MT5) and paste it into the Experts folder. If you received configuration set files (.set), paste them into MQL4/MQL5 > Presets.

Enable Automated Trading Permissions & DLL Imports

In the MetaTrader top menu, click Tools → Options (or press Ctrl+O), then navigate to the Expert Advisors tab:

• Check "Allow automated trading" (or "Allow Algo Trading")
• Check "Allow DLL imports" (required for licensing & news filters)
• Check "Allow WebRequest for listed URL" if using dynamic news feed API

Attach the EA to Your Chart & Load the .set File

Open the designated chart (e.g. XAUUSD M15 or EURUSD H1). Drag your EA from the Navigator window onto the chart. In the popup window:

• In the Common tab, ensure "Allow Live Trading" is checked.
• In the Inputs tab, click the Load button and select your desired .set file to populate risk percentage, lot sizes, and TP/SL.
• Click OK.

Confirm Live Trading Status

Check the top-right corner of your chart. You should see a Smiley Face icon (in MT4) or a Blue Hat icon (in MT5).
