Pre-Trade Verification Checklist

Ratio Trend Verification: Confirm the alt/BTC ratio is trading cleanly above its H4 50 EMA.
Donchian Breakout Check: Verify the current ratio candle has broken above the highest high of the previous 10 H4 bars.
BTC Health Filter: Check that BTC is stable and its H4 close remains above its 20 EMA.
Portfolio Exposure Limit: Ensure fewer than 3 altcoin positions are currently active in the portfolio.
Risk Allocation: Size the position strictly to risk 0.5% of total capital based on the H4 swing low stop loss.

Entry Execution Criteria

  1. Calculate the target altcoin-to-BTC ratio chart (e.g., ETH/BTC) on the H4 timeframe.
  2. Check that the ratio H4 close is strictly above its 50-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) and breaks the previous 10-bar high of the ratio.
  3. Verify the Bitcoin health filter: BTC must have an H4 close strictly above its 20-period EMA.
  4. Enter a long position on the altcoin spot or perpetual market upon the confirmation of the H4 candle close satisfying the above criteria.

Take-Profit & Target Exit

  • Primary Exit: Close the long altcoin position immediately if the altcoin/BTC ratio closes back below its 50-period EMA on H4.
  • Alternative Exit: Dynamic trailing stop based on structural lower lows or a fixed 1:3 risk-to-reward ratio if reached first.

Invalidation & Emergency Exit

  • If BTC breaks down below its 20 EMA on H4 prior to entry execution, the setup is instantly voided.
  • If the altcoin forms a sharp gap down or experiences an exchange liquidity cascade exceeding ATR parameters, close manually.
Stop-Loss Positioning

Placed below the most recent H4 swing low of the altcoin or 2.0x ATR(14), whichever provides logical structural protection.
